WWII Era Original USMC "Gung Ho" V-44 Survival Knife w/Leather Scabbard - Australian Made w/Leather Scabbard - Nice Condition
Up for sale is a WWII Era Original USMC "Gung Ho" V-44 Survival Knife w/Leather Scabbard.  The knife has a black composition handle with a Bright Blade
.  This item is used, see photo's for condition.  The blade is nice, no nicks or chips on the edge.  Some minor discoloration.  The blade has minor evidence of sharpening.  The knife is unmarked.  This is one of the Australian made V-44 knives.  There were knife makers in Australia that made close copies of the Case V44.  The finish and material quality were not as good as the Case made knives.  The Leather Scabbard is the orignal. The leather is soft and supple.  No rips or tears in the leather, all seams are intact.  The tip of the retention strap is broken after the snap, see photo.  It is still functional.  The tip shows evidence of being crease with some surface cracking.  This is very common on the scabbards for this style knife.
These knives were used in Pacific Theater by the US Marine Corps famed 2nd Raider Battn under the command of Col. Carlson.
