CONDITION: The knife blade has some pitting on both sides. NOTE - the flat part of the blade next to the edge is covered with sharpening marks on both sides. The guard, leather washer handle and pommel are sound, and nothing moves or wobbles. There is a lot of rust on the guard. Please NOTE - the sheath is in very poor condition. Part of the retaining strap has come off, and the leather has pulled out at the top on the back edge.

    WWII Cattaraugus 225Q US Combat Utility Sheath Knife
    -->   This is a US WWII Cattaraugus 225Q Sheath knife. It has a blade length of 6 inches, and an overall length of about 10 & 5/8 inches. The knife has a steel guard, a leather washer handle, and a steel pommel. The knife comes with its original left handed sheath.  Most of the 225Q knives were made with left handed sheathes. The reason for that was that, when loaded for combat, the right-handed soldier's right side might have a pistol on their web belt, so the knife went on the other side. This is a large and heavy knife, designed for opening supplies, wood boxes, and so on.
