Description
Here's a WW2 issued US Navy Mark 2 Fighting Knife made by Camillus NY. t measures 12" long with the blade being 7". These knives came out in 1943 and the first batch had their pommels secured by a recessed round nut like commercial hunting knives used at the time. It didn't take long to find out this was a weak spot and often broke in the field under hard use. The contract changed and the full tang was peened through at the butt was used going forward and most are made like that. This knife is a First Generation model with the recessed round nut securing the pommel and you don't see very many of them around. This knife is also UNSHARPENED and has the factory edge. Sharp false edge. It was carried and used. There is some scuffs and loss of the black finish, mostly near the tip. Also some light rust. Blade is As Found and never cleaned. Full steel guard is tight. Leather stacked handle with 5 grooves some minimal wear. Pommel is tight and no rust or wear. The original scabbard is sewn and stapled. Intact keeper strap. USN carved on the front over the original stamp. A good example of a hard to find knife. Guaranteed top please the new owner or I'll buy it back. Check my Feedback.
