VTG US WWII Anderson Commando Knife w/ Original Sheath (from M1913 Patton Saber).PLEASE VIEW EACH PICTURE IN DETAIL AND READ THE DESCRIPTION. This is an original WW2 ANDERSON FIGHTING KNIFE with the original leather sheath. The blade on this knife was made from a portion of the M1913 Cavalry sword, commonly called the Patton Saber, designed by Lt. (later General) George Patton Jr.
I have included a picture showing the knife next to an M1913 for comparison. The sword IS NOT included in this sale.
I believe Anderson made 3-4 knives from a single sword blade. The blade measures 8 1/4 inches, and the overall length of this knife is 13 1/4 inches. I can see a couple of very fine surface cracks near the hole in the handle, and an abrasion, across "Made In". But overall it is VERY NICE. The blade is VERY CLEAN.
The LEATHER SHEATH shows some shrinkage visible at the throat area when the knife is fully seated in the sheath. About 1/8 inch of the blade at the ricasso remains visible when sheathed. The body of the sheath is still very nice with solid stitching. Note the unique "hourglass" cuts for the belt loop.
