Here we have right from the old Vet’s estate probably one of the rarest M1 Garand Bayonet of the War and that would be Vintage WILDE TOOL US model 1942 Bayonet that was Re worked to the 1905 E1 configuration to be used on a M1 Garand. The model 1942 Bayonet had a long blade and was issued for the 1903 and 1903A3 rifles. As the war progressed and the M1 Garand became the mainline rifle these long bayonets blades were cut back to about 10 inch long. This work on this example was done by American Fork and Hoe and is marked on the top of the tang AFH. Wilde Tool made the fewest number of bayonets of any of the 6 makers…Condition is Excellent! Blade is fine No Rusting and has most of its Parked finish. Has been sharpened but probably done by AFH when they the work to. Guard is fine, muzzle hole is Round. Ribbed scales are fine, no cracks or damage, not worn. Catch works as it should. Has a spot of rusting on the pommel, may clean. Original scabbard has had some interesting initials and name carved into it. Please see my photos which shows everything well …Interesting original WWII Bayonet that I know you will like. Starting auction off low with no reserve and actual postage charged depending on where you live ( weighs 2 lbs boxed to ship)
