Huge vintage butcher knife manufactured under the famous Ka-Bar trademark by Union Cutlery Company in Olean, NY in the 1930th-1940th. The type was procured for the use by the US Armed Forces as "Butcher, Quartertermaster" knife - a scarce type as just a few survived the post-war years. These practical knives were literally "worked to death". This big boy is about 19-1/4" /49 cm overall; KA-BAR stamped blade is about 14" /35.5 cm long; solid full-tang construction. The blade is in great shape with no edge nicks or spine dings; the edge is very sharp still, the tip is intact. Wood handle scales with 3 steel pins; large letter V is carved on one side. No cracks or chips on the handle; all parts are tight. Overall, this vintage Ka-Bar butcher is in great overall condition, considering the age
