For auction is a super rare set.... V-42s are rare but the Omaha Sheath is super rare. There have been a few of these pop up lately and some have been questionable to say the least. But this one is a true authentic USS Omaha "shark knife". The USS Omaha's claim to fame is because it was the last ship to take a "Prize" of a captured german ship that they raided.... These knives have been observed with alpha numeric and numeric identifying marks on the sheath. The USS OMAHA is typically blocked out due to operational security for the raiding parties and the ship. You can still see some of the original lettering through the block out marks on this sheath. Owned or "liberated" by a guy named "CARP". I was able to research the name a little and found him to be an officer aboard the Omaha.... The V-42 itself is super nice.... clean, all original finish, nice and tight. Still has the blackening at the handguard. 7 1/8" blade length with an overall of 12 3/8". Leather is solid and nice. At the very very tip on both sides there is a small amount of scratching as if someone poked the tip into something metal. Super rare item in very nice shape. Pictures should say it all.
