    Description

    Robeson USN Mk2 Red Spacer Combat Utility Knife w/ Original Leather Sheath.
    Well Used and aged, but still in serviceable condition. Knife has a very keen edge, though it has seen lots of use.
    To my knowledge the knife is all original. The sheath looks like it has had some work.  All items have been stored separate from each other, but boxed together for the last several years in an atmospherically controlled environment.
    This knife belonged to my Great Uncle who served in the Navy during world war 2 as an Aviation Radioman. It came to me via my Father who in turn got it when my Grandfather passed away. He told me that the knife belonged to my Great Uncle, but the name RAE is scratched into the front of the sheath, and I do not know of any Rae names in our family. It makes me wonder if it wasn't a five finger discount appropriation back in the day.
    This knife started my journey off in collecting, but sadly when you get too many it gets hard to upkeep. I also rebuild knives and of late it has been too temping to rebuild this one....better off in someone else's collection.
    The knife and sheath have seen regular maintenance, as in the blade getting oiled and the leather getting a rub down with Obenauf's leather paste.
    There is a very slight wiggle to the cross guard, but the handle is tight as well as the pommel. Blade has very sharp edge.
    The sheath does have some issues. there is a repaired hole in the body front from were the knife tip sits and there is a dent in the leather where the body meets the hanger. at the opening. This is from inserting the knife and the tip hitting there. It appears there is a replacement snap in place as well.
    The leather is soft and pliable. Not Dry
    The sheath has a really well worn 1938 maybe 36 (?) US minted Buffalo Nickle (real) attached to it where the drain hole/leg tie goes. A screw stud is soldered to the backside of it.
