    Description

    RARE WWII KA-BAR RED SPACER USMC FIGHTING KNIFE - RESTORED.   This is a rare, 1st generation - i.e., "Red Spacer" -  Union Cutlery Company (KA-BAR) fighting knife made for the Marines during the early days of WWII.   Only a limited number of this early "red spacer" knives were made and, unfortunately, due to the heat, humidity, salt water and hard fighting conditions the Marines encountered in their Southwest Pacific island campaigns, many were lost in combat and many others were severely damaged by rust, leather spacer rot, broken off pommels, and other similar conditions.  As a result, few in overall excellent condition remain, and those which do command premium prices.  This is one, however, that I have tried my best to restore to its original condition by re-hot-bluing the blade, replacing a number of damaged and missing spacers and re-attaching the pommel.  As shown by the photos, while not totally, it is substantially restored to near original condition.  Sorry, no sheath comes with this knife.  If you have any questions, please ask before buying or making an offer.  Thanks.
