*ITEM CONDITION*
No corrosion except for some on the sheath's retaining strap’s brass snap, which looks like green tarnish-type corrosion. The green corrosion has a gummy substance coating it, which I assume is grease or wax; a small amount (about 1/8 of an inch wide) of the gummy stuff has transferred to the knife handle where it contacts the back side of the snap when sheathed (see photo). I have not tried to remove the little glob of grease from the handle leather, but it looks like it could be scraped off or picked off without much fuss. ***UPDATE: some more of the green gummy substance has transferred from the sheath's brass snap to its handle since I took the photos on 5/5/21. If you want a close-up photo of this or more info, please contact me about this.***
Pommel is free of scratches or dents.
The most worn area of the sheath is the retaining strap which has some cracking which damaged the smooth outer layer of the leather but do not appear to be very deep (see photo).
The handle and pommel are fixed tightly to the knife however the hand-guard is not perfectly tight. The guard is not loose enough to rattle, but you can feel it move slightly when you put your finger on the end of the guard. The apparent cause is the slot in the guard was cut slightly wider than the knife tang thickness. I have done my best to show this gap in a couple of the close-up guard photo (see photo).
I have not carried nor used this knife. It has been in my possession for about 8 to 10 years. It has been kept in a drawer indoors, in climate controlled conditions. I have never cleaned it except to go over it with a soft dry cloth to wipe away household dust. However, to prevent corrosion after handling it to take the photos, I rubbed the blade’s sides with a small amount of clean mineral oil, and then thoroughly wiped it dry.
In my opinion the sheath & handle could use some treatment with saddle soap and/or mink oil, but I chose not to do that, in case it matters to any potential bidders.
*DISCLAIMER*
Contact me through the Ask Seller button before bidding if you have any questions. I should be able to get you any additional photos or information (eBay limited me to 12 photos, but I have at least that many more).
I am not the original owner so I do not know for sure that the knife and sheath were originally purchased together new, nor am I absolutely sure they have not been rebuilt or re-furbished in any way. It is only my best guess that this knife & sheath are all-original.
