Ka- Bar USMC gold commemorative knives. They came in a
set of 6
when you pre-ordered them.
THEY ONLY MADE 1775
These are really for a Marine or a true collector of quality military knives. This would make the ultimate gift for any Marine.
THESE WERE offered by the HISTORICAL FOUNDATION in 1987
They only offered 1775 to be made, and this set is serial number 1742.
They sold out before they could be offered to the public. I was told that the Military and Politicians were the main buyers and that's why the public never got to see them. When this set came available some 31 years ago from an estate, I purchased them and kept them in a controlled environment gun room.
So, theses are really new. But I listed them as used do to they are not in the original box.
These are of
museum
quality
and only to be handled wearing a glove.
FWIW 36 years ago when these were offered, they sold for the set of 6 knifes sold right at ,300 in 1986.
I have noticed over the past 15 years going to gun and
knife
shows. They been selling one or two knives out of set. They been getting
anywhere
from 0ea and as high as ,200ea. I would guess there is not too many full sets to purchase which makes this set  very rare .
I have only seen one other set like these, and it brought a
little
over ,000 approx. 10 years ago. But it also was a complete set of 6 with matching serial numbers like this set.
